Skull and Bones is “not a narrative game”

Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game Skullland Bones is “not a story-driven game.”

This is because, according to game director Ryan Bernard, True Achievements has a “story piece” that focuses on the player’s own story and has an “underlying story”, while adventure is “story driven”. I made it clear that there isn’t.

“Skull and Bones is not a story-driven game,” explains Bernard. “We have a piece of the story-in the game we meet an important NPC called Kingpin. They have their own story that they learn as they build relationships with them by signing contracts with them. The game in which we build folklore around the world has an underlying story, but that’s not the main focus. We let players create their own stories and choose the type of pirate they want to be. I want to be able to do it.

“That said, what we call the Infamy progression system is the fact that we have access to the blueprints for games that offer different types of ships, weapons, and armor. You’ll need these. When traveling and exploring the world to be effective against new enemies, “he added.

Bernard is also open to gameplay. It’s mainly a Navy game, but there’s a lot of gameplay on land as there are “a lot of different outposts you can discover as a player”, such as camps with different factions and hidden treasures. Why is the game not appearing on legacy consoles, PS4 and Xbox One?

“In our development cycle, we wanted to release this title. Due to the longevity of our planned support, it makes sense to release it on the consoles of the current generation,” Bernard said. ..

Originally unveiled at E3 2017, Skull & Bones, developed by Ubisoft Singapore, was originally planned to be released on Xbox, PS4, and PC sometime the following year. However, there are currently two official delays in 2018 and 2019. Then, last summer (second quarter of 2021), it was discovered that the pirate game would start at some point in the 2022-2023 fiscal year. March 2023.

After a lot of rumors and speculation about Ubisoft’s long-awaited pirate game, Skull & Bones, which received a “major rework” a few years ago, will set sail on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on November 8. After years of development hell, the leaker confirmed last month that a new date was approaching and republished the trailer, both of which proved to be accurate.
